Iranian, Omani army medical departments vow to boost coop.

TEHRAN, Jul. 28 (MNA) – During a meeting between the officials of the medical departments of the armies of Iran and Oman, the two sides agreed to increase bilateral cooperation.

The joint meeting of the medical departments of the armies of Iran and Oman was held on Saturday morning at AJA University of Medical Sciences in Tehran.

The Iranian delegation was headed by Brigadier General Mostafa Maddah, the head of the Army's medical department, and Brigadier General Ahmad Abdollahi, the deputy head of the IRGC’s medical department.

In the opening of the meeting, Brigadier General Maddah said that bilateral interactions between medical delegations of the armies of the two neighboring countries is of high value as they can provide the opportunity to exchange experience and create joint cooperation.

“There are huge capacities in the medical departments of Iranian armed forces and we are ready to share our experience in all these fields with Oman,” said the Iranian commander.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has a high international status in medical services of armed forces and enjoys the top position in providing services,” he underlined.

Colonel Al-Haresi, the deputy head of the medical department of the Omani Army, for his part, hailed the quality of medical services in Iranian armed forces and army.

“The fact that there are 35 army hospitals in all four corners of Iran shows the importance of the issue of healthcare and medical treatment in Iranian armed forces,” said the Omani commander.

Ever since Iran helped Oman crush the Dhofar revolution in the 1970s, the two countries have enjoyed close ties that only expanded after the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran. The two countries have organized joint military exercises in the Strait of Hormuz since 2014, and have signed multiple trade and energy cooperation agreements. Omani leader Sultan Qaboos met in 2017 with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and Foreign Minister Javad Zarif to reaffirm his commitment to the diplomatic relationship between the two countries.
